Chavey Down pre-school operates from the main hall at Carnation Hall in Winkfield Row, Bracknell. Children attend from the local area and further afield. Carnation Hall has a beautiful outside area with a play park and a basketball area. Activities are set up outside everyday which makes the outside area more fun and provides a varied learning experience.

The pre-school operates term time only and is in receipt of funding for the provision of free early education for children aged two, three and four years. The pre-school staff are all qualified to at least a Level 3 in Early Years Education. All staff are trained in First Aid, safeguarding and Food and Hygiene. The Deputy Manager holds the level 6 Early Years Professional Status and also has a level 3 in Early Years Language Development ensuring all children receive the best start and support for speech and language skills.
Our setting promotes an inclusive practice where children can excel. We do this by providing a wide range of resources which are accessible to all ages and all developmental stages. We provide a stimulating learning environment, a curriculum that is both adult and child led and meets the needs of all the children. Weekly planning is guided by the children’s interests and resources are provided to scaffold their learning. Social interaction is promoted and modelled to help children’s personal, social and emotional development.
Chavey Down use the Statutory framework for children’s learning, development and care known as the Early Years Foundation Stage.
In our setting we embrace different cultures. Parents are encouraged to share any cultural aspect with the setting and the children. We also promote British values by teaching children right from wrong, decision making, respecting each other’s views and values, feelings, sharing, rules and boundaries.
We also have access to a local park which we use for day trips out and picnics.
Ofsted rated Chavey Down as a “Outstanding” setting in all areas. See report here in October 2016.
The setting supports speech and language development through the Every Child a Talker (ECaT) government initiative. Each child’s language is monitored on a termly basis which enables early detection of developmental delay. We support children who speak English as an additional language. Extra support may be available from the Bracknell Forest Early Years Team.
We are able to accommodate a variety of disabilities due to being all on one level with disabled toilet access. If necessary we will carry out an assessment to ensure we have suitable equipment and resources to provide the child with a fulfilling and enriched environment.
As Chavey Down Pre School is based in a community centre there is ample free parking.
